Sportspage.
In this issue we will discuss about an intresting game. That is Cricket.Cricket is a bat-and-ball team sport that originated in England and is now played in more than 100 countries. A cricket match is contested by two teams, usually of eleven players each. A cricket match is played on a grass field in the centre of which is a flat strip of ground 22 yards (20 m) long called a cricket pitch. A wicket, usually made of wood, is placed at each end of the pitch and used as a target.
The bowler, a player from the fielding team, bowls a hard leather, fist-sized, 5.5 ounces (160 g) cricket ball from the vicinity of one wicket towards the other, which is guarded by the batsman, a player from the opposing team. The ball usually bounces once before reaching the batsman. In defence of his wicket, the batsman plays the ball with a wooden cricket bat. Meanwhile, the other members of the bowler's team stand in various positions around the field as fielders, players who retrieve the ball in an effort to stop the batsman scoring runs, and if possible to get him or her out. The batsman , if he or she does not get out , may run between the wickets, exchanging ends with a second batsman (the "non-striker"), who has been stationed at the other end of the pitch. Each completed exchange of ends scores one run. Runs are also scored if the batsman hits the ball to the boundary of the playing area. The match is won by the team that scores more runs.
Cricket is essentially an outdoor sport, certainly at major level, and some games are played under floodlights. It cannot be played in poor weather due to the risk of accidents and so it is a seasonal sport. For example, it is played during the summer months in Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, while in the West Indies, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh it is played mostly during the winter months to escape the hurricane and monsoon seasons.
Governance rests primarily with the International Cricket Council (ICC), based in Dubai, which organises the sport worldwide via the domestic controlling bodies of the member countries. The ICC administers both men's and women's cricket, both versions being played at international level. Although men cannot play women's cricket, the rules do not disqualify women from playing in a men's team.The rules are in the form of a code known as The Laws of Cricket and these are maintained by the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), based in London, in consultation with the ICC and the domestic boards of control.
Team structure
A team consists of eleven players. Depending on his or her primary skills, a player may be classified as a specialist batsman or bowler. A well-balanced team usually has five or six specialist batsmen and four or five specialist bowlers. Teams nearly always include a specialist wicket-keeper because of the importance of this fielding position. Each team is headed by a captain who is responsible for making tactical decisions such as determining the batting order, the placement of fielders and the rotation of bowlers.
A player who excels in both batting and bowling is known as an all-rounder. One who excels as a batsman and wicket-keeper is known as a "wicket-keeper/batsman", sometimes regarded as a type of all-rounder. True all-rounders are rare as most players focus on either batting or bowling skills.There are various types of playing thegame. The most popular are Test Cricket,Oneday match andTwenty twentymatches. Let me explain briefly about all these.
Test cricket
Test cricket is the highest standard of first-class cricket. A Test match is an international fixture between teams representing those countries that are Full Members of the ICC. The men wearing black trousers on the far right are the umpires. Teams in Test cricket, first-class cricket and club cricket wear traditional white uniforms and use red cricket balls, while professional limited overs teams usually wear multi-coloured uniforms and use white balls.
Although the term "Test match" was not coined until much later, Test cricket is deemed to have begun with two matches between Australia and England in the 1876-77 Australian season. Subsequently, eight other national teams have achieved Test status: South Africa (1889), West Indies (1928), New Zealand (1929), India (1932), Pakistan (1952), Sri Lanka (1982), Zimbabwe (1992) and Bangladesh (2000).
Welsh players are eligible to play for England, which is in effect an England and Wales team. The West Indies team comprises players from numerous states in the Caribbean, most notably Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, the Leeward Islands and the Windward Islands. Test matches between two teams are usually played in a group of matches called a "series". Matches generally last up to five days and a series normally consists of three to five matches. Test matches that are not finished within the allotted time are drawn.
Since 1882, most Test series between England and Australia have been played for a trophy known as The Ashes. Some other series have individual trophies too: for example, the Wisden Trophy is contested by England and West Indies; the Frank Worrell Trophy by Australia and West Indies.
Limited overs
Limited overs cricket is sometimes called "one day cricket" because each match is scheduled for completion in a single day. In practice, matches sometimes continue on a second day if they have been interrupted or postponed by bad weather. The main objective of a limited overs match is to produce a definite result and so a conventional draw is not possible, but matches can be undecided if the scores are tied or if bad weather prevents a result. Each team plays one innings only and faces a limited number of overs. Typically, the limit is 40 or 50. In Twenty20 cricket, each team faces 20 overs only.
Standard limited overs cricket was introduced in England in the 1963 season in the form of a knockout cup contested by the first-class county clubs. In 1969, a national league competition was established. The concept was gradually introduced to the other major cricket countries and the first limited overs international was played in 1971. In 1975, the first Cricket World Cup took place in England. Limited overs cricket has seen various innovations including the use of multi-coloured kit and floodlit matches using a white ball.
Twenty20 is a new variant of limited overs itself with the purpose being to complete the match within about three hours, usually in an evening session. The original idea, when the concept was introduced in England in 2003, was to provide workers with an evening entertainment. It has been commercially successful and has been adopted internationally. The inaugural Twenty20 World Championship was held in 2007.
In the next issue,we will see about a differentgame.

“BUDDHA”

Saint Buddha tells that the sufferings of the man kind lies only with the desires. If he actually wins his desire and understands him self, the great fullness of wisdom he could reach. His teachings were accepted by three fourth of the people of the world. But, in his mother country, India there are no much masks of books to his importance, this message notes are prospered to fulfill that need to know about him. This message should reach all over and the people should get the usefullenus of this message.

The opinions of many scholars on“Buddha”.

1) As a man born with very brilliant and pure heart. Till to this day I have found no bray upon this world. His services to the humanity are very great and that there is no comparison to him. He lined as a saint with wisdom of action. Swami Vivekananda

2) Saint Buddha is not only the light for Asia but also the light for the world crores of people have obtained the usefulness through him .Ramakrishna mutt Chennai.

3) Buddhism dove to the consciousness of world and his silent approach for justice with the base of non-divulgence, there could be no comparison at all. That has touched my heart very much – Rabindra nath tagoore.

4) The path showed by “Buddha” will ham to be followed fight genus the destruction of human society – Jawaherlal Nehru

5) Saint Buddha born as a man and established a religion where there is no egoism built with a complex of superiority and individualism.Humanity and love was the principles. He did it with his own accord and raised himself the questions about life and observed the result to of himself and served to the humanity –Osho –

6) No cast and community were his realigion. He stressed the need of untouchahlity and followed the way of nonviolent process and established as doctrines to be followed by the mankind – Mahatma Gandhi and Dr.Ambethkar.

                    Buddha showed the path for prosperity of the world

                    About 2500 years back. Buddha born as a son in a Royal family of king Suddhothana. The queen Maya Devi was his mother. His real name was “Siddhartha”. The meaning explains to be the achiever of the thought he wished.

                    When a saint saw the child told that the child would be the saviour of the world. He stated that if the children happen to see the aged or the sick person or the dead body, the moment at which he would reject the earthly life. After hearing the opinion of the saint, the king arranged a garden in which all kinds of happiness could be prevailed. He brought up the child and prevented his moments with external world. In early youth hood, the marriage was also conducted.

                    But Siddhartha’s eyes were eager to know the world and the society. He went out side the garden and palace. He was actually wondering to look at the beauty of the city. But, he had to see the three events of old age, sickness and death.

                   He came to know that no one could escape from old age, sickness and death because they were facts. His thoughts stimulated with the feelings of curiocity.

                   At his age of twenty nine, he departed from the palace and arrived the city called ‘Gaya’. He made severe penance for six years. The enlightens of facts were his possession. At his age of thirty-five, he had the fullness of wisdom, siddharth then became “Buddha”. For forty-five years, he walked allover and visited several places and explained his views and principles.

                His doctrines were for good people and the bad, for the rich and poor, for the educated and uneducated. He showed no partiality as men and women. He served for the uplift of humanity. With the view to spread the principles through out the world, he established an. association of saints. At his age of eighty, on one full moon day of vaishaka, at the place called ‘Kusinara’ he attained the immortality. This is called “Mahabari Nirvana”. His birth and the day of wisdom also took place in the full moon day of vaishaka (MAY-JUN)

               This vaisaka full moon day, granted the purity thrice to saint Buddha.

               His personality was just like that of the and his physique was also compact, his walking was just that of the male elephant, dark and dense hair, black with bluisheyes,beautiful mouth with pearl like teeth, charming face and with sweet voice. He ruled the hearts of people, kings and saints. He had the power in physique and the confidence in his heart and the purity and strait for wardens in action. Based either on epics or morels of the ancestors, he followed nothing; he did it with the references of what the matters observed and noticed by eyes. His teachings were based on sensitiveness of reality. Human beings’ sixth sense should play the role of acceptance. Sri Vivekananda has also pointed out his vien about Buddha as below that way.

“He was the first who dared to say as believe not because old manuscripts are produced, not because it is your national belief, because you have been
made to beliefs from your childhood, but reason it, all out and after you have analysed it, then if you find that, it will do good to one and all,believe it, live up to it and keep others to live up to it.

Legs with Boots

                    One who does not bow his head before the foe is called “Valliant person”. ‘Hyder Ali’ is of this principle and proved as a Brave King. He ruled the state of Mysore in India. The British men who came to India as traders desired to capture the entire country. The unity among the Indian Kings were spoiled by them. They began to catch one after another state of the country.

                  But “Hyder Ali’ did not fear for their guns and rifles. Hyder Ali showed much importance to the patriotism. The soil in which he born was worshipped by him. He did not want to loose the state. There was a big war between British army and Mysore Army. (Hyeder Ali). The war was going on at a place called as Sri Rangapatna; several thousands of warriors from both sides lost their lives.

                   In front of the mighty regiment of British, Hyder Ali’s soldiers, horses and Elephants could not manage the attack. Hyder Ali could not win the battle. He was captured by the soldiers of British. He was brought before the commander of British Army. Hyder Ali stood before him with all his braveness. The commander expected him to bow his head and surrender. Hyder Ali stood as a brave tiger. The commander ordered him to salute him. But Hyder Ali replied that the respect is not the think to demand and possess. He further explained that his head will bow before God only and never lower down to man kind. The British commander challenged him and told “You will bow your hand before me”.

                  Next day the commander raised a wall in between his chamber and Hyder Ali’s cell in which he was locked and kept as captive. The commander ordered the soldiers to make a hole in the wall. It was arranged to a height of a short Boy. The commander ordered Hyder Ali to come and meet him.

                   Swamiji sri selvam siddhar The commander thought that Hyder Ali should bend and low down his head in the hole and reach him. So that Hyder would bow his head and reach him. Hyder Ali came to know the plan of commander easily. Hyder Ali lay down his body near the hole and projected his legs with Boots and managed to get through the hole with his balancing of both hands which carried the body easily and helped to stand as a Brave man in front of commander.

                 The smart actions and the way in which he disrespected the officer through the legs with boots inspite of his head made the scene as a climax.

OM NAMASHIVAYA!
OM NAMO NARAYANAYA!!

PEACE LOVE JOY

This is dedicated to His Holiness Sri Selvam Siddhar
and Hindu Temple of Georgia & Family.

We Salute to all Saints, Gurujis, Teachers, Maharshis,
Sages and God/Self realised persons of this world
without whom's Teachings and Guidance our life seems
to have no meaning.

My respect to all Divine religions of this world which
spread God's message, unconditional love, peace and
make this world a place of
Joy(Paradise).

WHO AM I to write something on Peace, Love and Joy
which all miraculous creatures of the UNIVERSAL MIND
or GOD or NATURE or whichever
name you like to call.

This is not to find fault with GOD's Divine Creatures.
We wonder seeing,feeling, perceiving and imagining
this MIRACULOUS UNIVERSE and
surrender fully to HIM. As I am transformed from
non-believer to a man of fully devoted to God service
for the rest of life and having
some understanding of life because of the so many
Guru's divine spiritual words(read/heared) and by the
Grace of GOD experiencing some real peace,
having unconditional love to all creatures without
judgement and Joy(bliss or happiness) going in on
meditation for sometime and after getting an
opportunity
to write by the grace of God through Sri Selvam
siddhar I started writing. If you feel that you have
already achieved peace, love and joy
like the many realised persons of this world you
better stop here and BE AS YOU ARE.

Everybody or every creature of this miraculous God's
creation is Unique and Divine. This Universe, nOt even
single atom, exists withot HIM.

This is only the message of those saints and sages of
the past and present as understood by me. This is not
with the desire to change the world but
to give sometime to change ourselves. If you have some
time to GOD also you will have peace, love and joy.
Read divine scriptures like The Holy Geeta,The
Upanishads, the teachings of Self-Realised
souls(Paramahansa Yogananda, Swami Sivananda, Sri
Aurobindo and so on), The Holy Bible, The Quran and
Buddha's teaching or whichever
you like to understand God and Life and where we are
in this Universe or who Am I. So the credit of this
writing is not mine. The Body, Mind and Intelligence
of VishnuShivapriyan is fully surrendered to That
Super Power which has created this Universe.

God is Love. So it is with love this VishnuShivapriyan
writes . Sharing whatever you have will multiply this
UNIVERSAL law.The UNIVERSAL CONSCIOSNESS has
created everything with a purpose. VishnuShivapriyan
purpose now in life, by the grace god, is to spread
peace, unconditional love and divine Joy.
Because of our ignorance we make paradise mother earth
a hell to live.
Ethanai Kodi Inbam thanthai Iraiva only comes to my
mind.
As you sow so you reap. If you want peace, love and
joy in this world, sow and show whatever peace love
and joy you have in all possible ways.
For every action there is equal and opposite reaction.
Keeping this law in mind you decide your action in
this world.

For a ignorant mind God is No where. For an
intelligent mind God is Nowhere. God is everywhere and
in everything, all powerfull, without beginning and
end,
changeless in everchanging Universe, spread in all
directions endlessly, within and without and HE is
smaller than an atom and bigger than your imagined
world
and Universe.
Though VishnuShivapriyan read a lot of spiritual books
for more than 15years, VishnuShivapriyan started
meditating practically with the Mantra
"OM MAMASHIVAYA " as advised by Siddhar Sri
Dharmalingam Swamigal present avtar of Siddhar Sri
Kagapujandar for some days and later included Divine
Mantra
" OM NAMO NARAYANAYA" with that. Everything happens
according to God's plan. He is Director of this Cosmic
worldly drama and we are only actors and spectators.
Within some days VishnuShivapriyan left 25 years of
cigarete smoking habit withot any urge to smoke again.
Now VishnuShivapriyan feels accepting life as given
by God and this life itself a great wealth to relish
not to mourn. VishnuShivapriyan now feel more
peaceful. VishnuShivapriyan now able to have
unconditional
love with everybody without jealousy and judgement. My
life changed from the usual materialistic life of this
world to joyful spritual dedicated to
God's service life. VishnuShivapriyan got the
opportunity to write as wished. VishnuShivapriyan
gives below one poem written some time back in a
different
mode of life.
       ONLY GOD KNOWS

I wonder why we forget the Father of the
Universe;
I wonder why we forget the Owner of the
Universe;
I wonder why we compete with one another
for material things;
I wonder why we forget the real Owner,the
LORD;
I wonder why we are searching happiness
everywhere
And in everything except God who is inside
us too;
I wonder why we are ignorant of miraculous
Creation of GOD;
I wonder why our desire is endless except
God's desire;
I wonder why we are not happy with what we
have;
I wonder when unconditional Love to the
world going to spread;
I wonder now Who is going to spread God's
message to the world;
I wonder who knows the Answer;ONLY GOD
KNOWS!!!.

If you find something intersting in this will
continue...

MAY LOVE PEACE AND JOY PREVAIL EVERYWHERE. GOD BLESS
US.
